My name is Eddie Davis, and I am a second generation Law Enforcement Officer. My family moved to Hardee County 40 years ago when I was a young child. I was raised in Hardee County, with Hardee County values and pride. I have spent all of my adult years serving and protecting the people of Florida’s Heartland.
I began my career as a correctional officer then as a Sergeant, where I served at Hardee Correctional Institution. I then served the citizens of Wauchula as a Police Officer. Then, in 1997, I became a Deputy Sheriff with the Hardee County Sheriff's Office and have spent the last 22 years serving the citizens of Hardee County. I served under both Sheriff Loran Cogburn and Sheriff Arnold Lanier. I have learned from each of them, working my way to my current rank as Major of the Sheriff's Office.
The duties and positions I have held at the Hardee County Sheriff's Office have allowed me to gain the knowledge and experience needed to command every division within the Sheriff’s Office.
Throughout my career, I have served as a Patrol Deputy, Agriculture/K-9 Officer, Field Training Officer, Property Crimes Investigator (CID), and Narcotics Investigator (SID). In 2005, I was promoted to Detective Sergeant, responsible for supervising six Detectives in the Special Investigative Division. In 2015, I was promoted to Administrative Lieutenant, supervising the Civil Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Special Investigations Division, Warrant Division, and Communications/Dispatch Division
In October of 2015, I was promoted to Captain / Chief Deputy, continuing my supervision of the above Divisions and also assuming command of all law enforcement operations at the Hardee County Sheriff's Office.
In April of 2019, I was promoted to Major/ Under Sheriff, where my responsibilities include the command of all divisions within the Hardee County Sheriff's Office including law enforcement and Detention.
During the summer of 2019, I was fortunate to become one of the select few law enforcement officers in the nation to graduate from the FBI National Academy. I was a member of the 277th National Academy
My wife Amy and I, have been married over 30 years and have two children, Christie and Paul. I am currently an active member of the Hardee County Rotary Club.
I take my responsibility to protect and serve the people of Hardee County very seriously and will be accessible and responsive as Sheriff to all the citizens of our county.
It was an honor to attend the Florida Sheriff’s Office 2020 Winter Conference. During this Conference, I was able to connect with and learn from current and past Florida Sheriffs. I gained a greater insight for the operations of a Sheriff’s Office and to hear first hand the issues that plague Sheriffs around the State Of Florida. This was valuable training that I will utilize in service to the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Hardee County.
I had a wonderful experience sharing ideas with Sheriff Arnold Lanier, Sheriff Grady Judd (Polk CO), and Sheriff Bob Gualtieri (Pinellas CO).
The information and experience I gained this week will help me serve the citizens of Hardee County in a professional and effective way.
